So, in a fit of optimistic insanity, I have given myself the ridiculous goal of reading 300 books between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2013. For those of you unfamiliar with calendars, that’s 300 books in a year and an average of 25 books per month.

No, I haven’t quit (or lost) my day job, and  still plan to see an occasional friend, watch an occasional movie, and keep up with my writing. I just figured that, as nutty New Year resolutions go, this one was more likely than most to stick.

Just to be clear, I count audiobooks as reading and graphic novel TPBs as books.

If you have any reading suggestions, especially quick or short reads (suggesting Infinite Jest, for example, would just be cruel), do let me know.

And if you want to share in my insanity or have a similar goal, let me know how it’s going. Sure, misery might love company, but so does crazy!

To follow along with my progress – or to laugh at my failure – keep an eye on the What I’m Reading section of this site, in the sidebar.

Otay! Wish me luck! I gotta go do some reading.

I am attempting 30 books this year – including books like Infinite Jest (which is actually on my list this year).

I am reading A Game of Thrones at the moment – it’s pretty good and actually zippy despite its length.

I’ve heard great things about Game of Thrones, but haven’t read any fantasy in ages! If I do decide to dive back into the genre, I’m sure the series will be my chosen port of re-entry.
